About The Position

Amentum is seeking an Electronic Technician B – Timing Systems to support the Space Force Range contract. This role involves performing technical duties in operating, troubleshooting, testing, repairing, calibrating, installing, and inspecting Timing, communication, and test equipment. The technician will test and evaluate installations and repairs to ensure accuracy and compatibility, and fulfill all order/service requirements. Responsibilities include corrective and preventive maintenance, operations, alignment, and installation of data, voice, video, and network distribution systems and associated end instruments. The role also requires managing property inventory, controlling supply parts and tools, ensuring quality assurance, and maintaining station and operation logs, documentation, and records. Adherence to Electro Static Sensitive (ESD) safety practices is mandatory. The technician will provide accurate REMEDY and IMDS reports for preventative and corrective actions, complete assigned training, and assist in training others to ensure optimal personnel availability for daily operations, maintenance, and launch support. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • AS Degree in Electronic Technology, or two-year technical school, equivalent military experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two or more years as an Instrumentation Operator Repairer (IOR) or equivalent electronic technician experience related to the systems, subsystems and operations required to maintain Communications or Timing systems, understanding of Timing preferred.
  • Good understanding of test, diagnostic, and measurement equipment to include: RF test equipment, Fireberds, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, RF Power Meters, and Network Analyzers
  • Good understanding of data transport systems/network (2.4 kbps – DS-3 broadband multiplexers) including ATM and IP network architecture
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with troubleshooting of electronic equipment/systems
  • Experience working on the following test equipment: OTDR, LAN meter, Oscilloscope, Fireberd or T-Berd data analyzers
  • Experience on one or more of the following systems: Timing FDME count distribution equipment, TWSTT, IRIG distribution and GPS receivers, TMS-3000, FCC-100s, Orion DRCS, IDNX, Timeplex, Alcatel Microwave and various KG devices and COMSEC procedures
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good ability to understand and interpret schematic diagrams and circuit cards
  • Ability to interface with all levels of personnel in a diverse, team-orientated environment
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with employees and the public
  • Security+ CE certification or ability to obtain and maintain certification within 90 days of start date
  • Periodically move, transport, install and position equipment weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Periodically ascend/descend, and traverse work areas at heights of approximately 20 feet or more
  • Ability to travel locally or outside the continental U.S. on occasion
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License
  • Valid U.S. passport or ability to obtain one

  • Experience with various long-haul circuit technologies to include T-1, DS-3, OC-12, and OC-48, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical duties in operating, troubleshooting, testing, repairing, calibrating, installing and inspecting Timing, communication and test equipment
  • Test and evaluate installations and repairs to ensure accuracy, compatibility and ensure all order/service requirements are fulfilled
  • Perform corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, operations, alignment and installation of (data, voice, video, and network) distribution systems and the associated end instruments
  • Responsible for Property Inventory, Control of Supply Parts and Tools, and Quality Assurance
  • Maintain Station and Operation Logs, documentation, and records
  • Work with Electro Static Sensitive (ESD) devices and confirm to ESD safety practices
  • Provide accurate REMEDY and IMDS (Trouble Ticket tracking databases) preventative and corrective action reports
  • Complete assigned training and assist with the training of others to ensure optimal availability of qualified personnel for daily operations, maintenance, and launch support
  • Perform other duties as assigned
