Security Automation Systems is a specialized integrator focused on designing and installing highly engineered security and control systems for correctional facilities, including jails and prisons. Security Automation Systems (SAS), has a need for an electronic security technician to configure, install and service security electronic control and monitoring systems for our correctional, government and commercial customers. This electronics security technician position, a non-exempt/hourly position, will report to the Operations Project Manager. This position will require a wide range of technical and electrical construction skills, hands-on installation, troubleshooting, task management and customer service skills. Applicant will have deep knowledge of security electronics hardware including, but not limited to, door locks and sensors, cameras and video recording systems, access control systems, audio communication systems and powered fence systems

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows OS and Microsoft Office software products
  • Skilled in working with common hand tools, power tools, multi-meters, and cable testing equipment
  • Experience configuring security equipment such as IP based Cameras, Video Management Systems and Access Control Systems
  • Detailed working knowledge of IP devices/schemes and configuration of such
  • Previous experience with layout/design of video, access control or similar type systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot systems, utilizing a diverse skill set learned from working on complex systems
  • 4+ years of work experience installing and servicing security electronic systems
  • Applicant must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Applicant will be subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen
  • Frequent day and overnight travel
  • Must be able to climb ladders and lift items up to 75lbs

Nice To Haves

  • 2-year technical associates degree (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, test, and commission security electronics equipment, including, but not limited to, access control systems, analog and IP video systems, intelligent locking systems, network switches, audio communications systems and PLC-based touchscreen control systems
  • Configure security devices and systems such as IP cameras, VMS systems, access control
  • Assist the sales team in estimating raceway and cable installation scopes for security electronics projects
  • Install raceway and cable for security electronics equipment
  • Assist and work with other electronic technicians, engineers, and subcontractors
  • Maintain positive budgets on assigned project functions
  • Perform maintenance/service on installed equipment at customer facilities, and generate reports detailing problems/solutions
  • Coordinate project installations/scheduling with customers
  • Ability to work with customers with professionalism and maturity
  • Be willing to learn new systems, technologies, and products
  • Ability to be adaptable, flexible, and work well in a team setting
  • Provide project leadership in the form of technical direction, task assignments and quality control
  • Provide design assistance for video, access control or similar security systems
