About The Position

Innovasea is seeking an Electronic Repair Technician for a full-time position with the Customer Support team in its Fish Tracking division. This role reports to the Head of Consulting & Customer Success and is responsible for investigating and resolving customer equipment issues in a fast-paced customer service environment. Key responsibilities include acoustic telemetry product troubleshooting, repair, and testing according to established best practices in a thorough and timely manner. The candidate must be adept at electronics and general technical troubleshooting, have excellent attention to detail, and be highly organized. As part of the Fish Tracking Customer Support team, the technician will play an integral role in the company's customer service.

Requirements

  • Completion of an Electronic Engineering Technician or Technologist diploma program, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in electronic manufacturing and/or repair
  • Advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
  • Experience in lead-free soldering
  • Ability to perform service on electro-mechanical equipment, jigs, and fixtures
  • Some knowledge of parts and shop supply management
  • Some knowledge/familiarity with schematics, mechanical drawing, and PCB diagrams
  • Must be highly organized
  • Ability to self-manage time to meet customer repair deadlines is essential
  • Attention to detail is essential for thorough troubleshooting and for high-quality resolution of customer equipment issues
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals having different levels of technical expertise
  • Ability to work effectively as member of a team and independently
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Following company information security policies is a required part of this role

Responsibilities

  • Providing hands-on technical support in a fast-paced electronics repair operation
  • Investigating and resolving customer equipment issues involving parts, processes, and troubleshooting
  • Cataloguing and inspecting incoming equipment prior to assessing
  • Troubleshooting of returned equipment and assessing required repairs
  • Repairing or replacing broken or malfunctioning parts according to established procedures and conducting tests to ensure that repairs are satisfactory
  • Resolving process and part issues
  • Collecting and tracking repair data; trending manufacturing and design issues
  • Following best practices including established safety procedures
  • Maintaining internal testing equipment and assembly jigs
  • Implementing small continuous improvement projects and process changes
  • Working closely with the Customer Support administrator for scheduling of repairs and parts orders to ensure timely repair and return of customer equipment
  • Working with R&D, Production Engineering & QA as necessary to troubleshoot equipment problems and design test and repair procedures
