About The Position

Navteca is seeking an Electronic Records Management (ERM) Specialist to support the management, organization, and lifecycle of electronic records across enterprise systems. The ideal candidate will have experience with document management platforms and a strong understanding of records lifecycle processes, compliance, and information governance. This role focuses on ensuring the efficient and systematic control of records, including their creation, classification, storage, retrieval, retention, and disposition, in alignment with organizational and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Document Management Systems: EMC Documentum, Captiva, Laserfiche (or similar platforms)
  • Records Lifecycle Management: classification, retention, archiving, disposition
  • Knowledge of document imaging and digital records systems
  • Understanding of records governance, compliance, and audit practices
  • Familiarity with business process design and workflow optimization
  • Experience with metadata, indexing, and information organization
  • 2–4 years of experience in electronic records management or a related field
  • Experience working with enterprise document management systems
  • Strong understanding of records lifecycle and information governance principles
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to collaborate across technical and business teams
  • Ability to work on-site at County or approved offsite locations as needed
  • Time worked outside approved hours is not billable
  • Timesheets must be submitted for all work performed
  • Staff may not perform work for other clients during assigned County hours

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in government or regulated environments is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Identify, classify, archive, preserve, and securely dispose of electronic records
  • Administer and support document management and imaging systems such as EMC Documentum, Captiva, Laserfiche, and similar platforms
  • Design and improve business processes related to records and information management
  • Ensure proper capture, indexing, and storage of records and associated metadata
  • Implement and enforce records retention schedules and disposition policies
  • Support audits, compliance efforts, and records retrieval requests
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align records management practices with business workflows and transactions
  • Maintain documentation of systems, processes, and procedures related to ERM
  • Ensure compliance with Fairfax County standards and applicable regulations
