About The Position

A vacancy exists in the Office of Information Technology, Division of Electronic Services. Non-Merit positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan. A list of eligible applicants will be established based on the examination as outlined below. Requirements

  • At least one years' experience and/or specialized training in the installation of auto/mobile electronics including: Mobile two-way radio or computer communications equipment.
  • Emergency lights and sirens.
  • Electronic accessories such as remote starters, security and audio systems.
  • Experience operating hand and power tools used to install electronic equipment.
  • Experience performing a variety of unskilled manual labor tasks.
  • Experience in interpreting schematics, blueprints, and sketches for the installation and maintenance of electronic equipment.
  • Experience leading or instructing others.

Responsibilities

  • Install as directed: mobile radio equipment, emergency lighting and mobile computer equipment.
  • Installs two-way radios, mobile computers, antennas, transmission lines, wiring, cables, and other electronic equipment in vehicles.
  • Installs other interconnecting electrical and electronic equipment, sirens, intercom and public address systems.
  • Performs testing, preventive maintenance and inventory of electronic equipment.
  • Performs set up duties not limited to minor wood and metal fabrication.
  • Documents work performed.
  • May program communications equipment.
  • Cleans work area and performs other preventive maintenance work.
  • May lead or instruct lesser skilled workers.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
