About The Position

Incumbents troubleshoot, maintain, and repair police and emergency equipment and associated components. This position requires a high school diploma or GED and three years of experience troubleshooting, installing, repairing, and maintaining advanced electronic equipment, preferably in a public safety or military environment. A valid Nevada driver license is also required. Candidates must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States and at least 18 years old. Requirements

Three years of experience troubleshooting, installing, repairing, and maintaining advanced electronic equipment, preferably in a public safety or military environment.
Possession of a high school diploma or GED.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid, appropriate Nevada driver license.
Be a citizen/naturalized citizen or permanent resident alien without conditions on status of the United States of America by the date of the first test instrument.
Be at least 18 years old by the date of the first test instrument.
Vision sufficient to read computer screens, fine prints in documents, and distinguishing fine details on electronic boards as well as color-coded wires.
Hearing sufficient to hear conversations and directions in person and over the telephone or radio.
Dexterity and mobility sufficient to operate standard office equipment, mechanical and electrical equipment, and tools; and operate motorized vehicles.
Agility sufficient to twist, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach overhead.
Strength and mobility sufficient to lift, move and carry moderately heavy automotive, mechanical, and electrical parts and equipment with or without aid of equipment.
Endurance sufficient to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time to complete assigned tasks; stand and move around while working indoors, outdoors or within confined space; and/or to wear required safety equipment.

Nice To Haves

Experience with the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of vehicle public safety equipment.
Experience with the tools and test equipment used to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electronic equipment.
Experience in the troubleshooting, repair, and programming of Land Mobile Radios.
Experience in the troubleshooting and repair of dispatch consoles and console peripherals used in a public safety dispatch facility.
Knowledge of the Windows OS and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
