About The Position

The Electronic Services Division (ESD) supports agency infrastructure and business processes by improving collaboration, using consistent planning processes, increasing business continuity capabilities, and providing quality communication services statewide. The Field Support Section provides day-to-day support to the WSP and its mission-critical voice and data communications systems, which also support partner agencies and other public safety customers. This position serves as a Liaison between district and division command staff within their region and ESD, ensuring agency policies and practices are followed by regional personnel. The role involves supervising assigned personnel, managing specific projects, and overseeing preventive maintenance for the assigned region. The position also coordinates schedules to minimize overtime and travel, addresses training needs, communicates system outage information, and directly supervises 6 STS positions. The successful candidate will plan, assign, and review staff work, adjust assignments and schedules, evaluate employee performance, assess training needs, resolve staff issues, and ensure completion of all scheduled preventative maintenance. Additionally, this role serves as a management advisor, technical lead, or project manager on complex, large-scale technology projects, including budgeting, scheduling, resource management, roll-out, and acceptance phases. The position also reviews and processes employee Time and Activity System (TAS).

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in one of the following: electronics engineering, information technology, mathematics or physics.
  • Additional experience and/or technical training in electronics or electrical engineering may be substituted for educational requirements on a year for year basis.
  • Four years of experience in highly technical electronic communications or Information Technology field.
  • Applicants must possess work authorization that does not require employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, assigns, and reviews work of staff, adjusting assignments and schedules to maintain adequate staffing levels and respond to fluctuating workloads.
  • Serves as Liaison between district and division command staff within their region and ESD.
  • Ensures all agency policies and practices are followed by regional personnel.
  • Ensures employees conduct their duties by following appropriate procedures, standards, and best practices.
  • Evaluates employee performance and prepares performance develop plan (PDP).
  • Assesses training needs of staff and arranges for or provides instruction.
  • Resolves staff issues through corrective actions, counseling, mentoring and recognition.
  • Ensures completion of all scheduled preventative maintenance for equipment located within the region by assigned personnel.
  • Serves as management advisor, technical lead, or assigned project manager on complex, large scale technology projects in support of ESD's business objectives to include budgeting, scheduling resource management, roll out, and acceptance phases.
  • Review and process employee Time and Activity System (TAS).
