About The Position

As an Electronic Design Engineer II, Zonal ECU, you will help develop battery-management and zonal hardware for power distribution and control functions in next-generation vehicles. The role focuses on designing hardware that supports the performance, safety, and efficiency of software-defined vehicles, within a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This is a hybrid position. The engineer contributes across the hardware design lifecycle, from concept and requirements through design, validation, and production. The work includes fault-tolerant power electronics ECUs with solid-state eFUSEs, high-compute microcontrollers, power sequencing, sleep states, and MCU/ECU I/O allocation. The role also involves cross-functional collaboration, component and supplier development, circuit analysis and troubleshooting, and support for system integration and vehicle testing across build phases. Designs must meet applicable functional-safety and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in electronic hardware design; automotive industry experience is preferred.
  • Strong foundation in electrical engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience designing for industrial or automotive environments while supporting co-development of bootloader and firmware.
  • Familiarity with EMC/EMI design best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with lab tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to break down complex problems into smaller tasks, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  • Experience with schematic-capture EDA tools such as Cadence and Altium.

Nice To Haves

  • Safety-hardware development experience.
  • Functional safety (FuSa) design experience.
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems and component release workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the full hardware design lifecycle, including concept development, requirements ingestion, safety concept, schematic capture, layout, validation, and production.
  • Design and implement a fault-tolerant power electronics ECU with solid-state eFUSEs and distributed and localized power distribution.
  • Design an ECU with a high-compute microcontroller; support power sequencing and sleep states; and manage MCU/ECU I/O allocation.
  • Take an ECU through the hardware development cycle from concept to cradle.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, software, vehicle dynamics, manufacturing, validation, and supply chain teams.
  • Evaluate and integrate components and technologies, including microcontrollers, high-side drivers, and motor drivers; work with suppliers to co-develop custom solutions.
  • Conduct worst-case circuit analysis, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and failure investigations on PCBAs and electronic subsystems.
  • Support system integration and validation across Proto, EVT, DVT, and vehicle-level testing.
  • Ensure compliance with functional safety and regulatory standards, including ISO 26262, FUSA, ISO-16750, and ISO-25769.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary.
  • Eligibility for the annual company performance bonus program for full-time positions; payments are discretionary and not guaranteed.
  • Eligibility for equity in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), subject to board approval and plan terms, including vesting requirements.
  • Comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees, including health coverage, retirement savings, time off, and family planning programs; offerings vary by country.
