About The Position

The Electroneurodiagnostic Technician performs and maintains competency in electroencephalograms, both portable inpatient EEGs (both at Waukesha ProHealth Care and Oconomowoc ProHealth Care Hospitals) and outpatient EEGs in the Neuroscience Center Clinic, by applying electrodes on predetermined positions on the patient's head, checking the performance of the electrodes, calibrating and adjusting the testing equipment and selecting both predetermined and special electrode combinations dependent on the individual case under study. Requirements

  • High school Diploma, or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association, or ability to obtain upon hire
  • Registered Polysomnography Technologist or Registered Electrodiagnostic Technician within one year of hire
  • Ability to learn EPIC charting system

Responsibilities

  • Performs and maintains competency in electroencephalograms, both portable inpatient EEGs, and outpatient EEGs.
  • Applies electrodes on predetermined positions on the patient's head.
  • Checks the performance of the electrodes.
  • Calibrates and adjusts the testing equipment.
  • Selects predetermined and special electrode combinations dependent on the individual case under study.
  • Prepares patient for exam and performs exams and procedures.
  • Gathers a comprehensive patient history, appropriate information from patient, patient's records and family members to include neurological symptomatology and medications.
  • Explains test procedures to patient and family members.
  • Performs procedures according to the laboratory standards and implements alternative methods and/or adjusts controls to obtain optimal recordings.
  • Recognizes patient or environmental artifact.
  • Documents, eliminates or takes proper measure to monitor the artifact.
  • Troubleshoots equipment problems and repairs or reports to supervisor immediately.
  • Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
