About The Position

The University of Miami/UHealth Department Neurology has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist 1 (H) to work in Miami, FL. The Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist 1 specializes in studying and recording the electrical activity of the brain and nervous system to assist physicians in the diagnostic and prevention of disease. More specifically, the incumbent performs EEGs to both adults and pediatric patients using appropriate equipment and practices. The Department of Neurology, Epilepsy Division has an exciting opening for a Full Time Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist. The selected candidate will work as part of the UM Epilepsy team to perform EEGs to both adults and pediatric patients. This position will rotate between two main locations, UM Medical Campus and Jackson South and the estimated weekly hours are 24 with possibility of increasing number of hours as new EEG Lab increases patient volume and demand for testing.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification or license
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required
  • Refer to department description for applicable certification requirements

  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic tests when requested by physicians.
  • Reviews patient records and interviews patients to obtain additional information.
  • Prepares patients for procedure by attaching monitoring devices and explaining test procedures.
  • Sets up and calibrates necessary equipment.
  • During testing, monitors patient’s status and records observations.
  • Analyzes test data to ensure appropriate data is collected.
  • Reports test results to physicians for further analysis.
  • Maintains laboratory equipment, ensures room is clean, and institutes quality control procedures.
  • Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and performs minor repairs.
  • Monitor the EEG laboratory patients’ schedule templates to ensure patient’s easy access.
  • Edits long EEGs to facilitate and optimize physicians reading.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
