Requirements

U.S. Citizenship
Ability to successfully pass a federal background investigation to secure and maintain DOE L security clearance.
Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing.
Ability to lift and manually position large, bulky test devices onto characterization tools, either individually or as part of a team.
Periodic work outdoors in all seasons for most of the workday.
Demonstrated ability to work in a laboratory setting, performing tasks such as test setup, equipment operation, and data collection and storage.
Demonstrated experience with mechanical assembly and common hand tools.
Demonstrated experience with Data Acquisition Systems (DAS), laboratory instrumentation and basic laboratory data management.

Nice To Haves

Demonstrated experience with DC measurement and data acquisition systems
Familiarity with electrical lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), forklift operations, and use of machine shop equipment is desired.
Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics and engineering specifications
Demonstrated ability to adapt to various experimental environments and learn quickly
Demonstrated ability to interface with multiple engineers and scientists, and to perform work with a sense of urgency and focus on quality
Experience with control systems, including low-voltage/low-current measurement systems and motor controls
Experience with light shop equipment (bench grinders, band saws and drill presses) and basic portable power tools
Experience with electrical Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), including procedures applied to systems with multiple sources of energy
Experience with PV systems and components
Programming and control of DAS systems using Labview, Python, or embedded languages
Experience with data processing, analysis and reporting

Responsibilities

Support photovoltaic (PV) power systems research.
Operate indoor PV characterization tools.
Support outdoor PV system installation, instrumentation, and maintenance.
Work in both laboratory and outdoor settings.
Monitor experiments, including making and recording observations in support of the development and testing of PV systems.
Support documentation efforts, including preparing information for scientific and engineering reports and publications.
