About The Position

Valmont is hiring Electromechanical Technicians with a strong focus on industrial electrical maintenance and troubleshooting. In this hands-on role, you will diagnose, maintain, and repair electrical and electromechanical systems that support manufacturing operations. You'll work with motors, controls, industrial electrical components, power distribution, and equipment up to 480V, along with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. The position offers a standard 1st shift schedule (Monday - Friday 7 AM - 3 PM) with potential for overtime. There are opportunities for step pay increases at 90 days, 1 year, and 2 years, and eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus. Candidates may be hired at the Technician I, II, or III level based on their electrical experience, technical proficiency, education, and overall industrial maintenance background.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of industrial equipment maintenance experience (for Technician I)
  • Experience using electrical diagnostic and testing equipment
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems and components
  • Ability to read basic electrical schematics and equipment prints (for Technician I)
  • Foundational mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills (for Technician I)
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Generally, 2 to 3 years of relevant industrial maintenance experience (for Technician II)
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills (for Technician II)
  • Experience with motors, relays, contactors, disconnects, transformers, sensors, motor starters, and control components (for Technician II)
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical equipment with limited instruction (for Technician II)
  • Experience with electrical installations and equipment up to 480V (for Technician II)
  • Ability to read and troubleshoot from electrical schematics and wiring diagrams (for Technician II)
  • Solid mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting capabilities (for Technician II)
  • Advanced industrial electrical and electromechanical troubleshooting experience (for Technician III)
  • Ability to independently diagnose complex electrical and equipment failures (for Technician III)
  • Strong working knowledge of PLCs, machine controls, motors, control circuits, and power distribution (for Technician III)
  • Experience installing, maintaining, modifying, and troubleshooting industrial control equipment (for Technician III)
  • Advanced ability to interpret electrical schematics and use diagnostic equipment (for Technician III)
  • Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting capabilities (for Technician III)
  • Put safety first

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical and electromechanical systems
  • Diagnose electrical faults using meters and other testing equipment
  • Maintain and repair motors, controls, relays, contactors, disconnects, transformers, sensors, and related components
  • Install and service electrical equipment and components, including systems up to 480V, based on qualifications and position level
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment prints
  • Troubleshoot production equipment to identify electrical and mechanical causes of downtime
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems as needed
  • Follow lockout/tagout and established electrical safety procedures
  • Document repairs and communicate equipment and safety concerns
