About The Position

This role is responsible for establishing standards and policies for equipment installation, modification, testing, operation, inspection, and maintenance according to engineering principles and safety regulations. The technician will program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLCs and other industrial automation systems, and provide technical support to other departments regarding process and equipment changes. Responsibilities include installing wiring circuits, diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime, identifying operational improvements, and initiating purchase orders for parts and machines. The role also requires adherence to safety procedures like lock out/tag out, proper use of PPE, and EHS guidelines.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
  • Strong knowledge of electromechanical codes, standards, and safety practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to the highest quality workmanship.
  • Physical stamina to work in various positions for extended periods.
  • Advanced knowledge of pneumatic, wiring, and hydraulic systems.
  • Associate’s degree or technical certification required.
  • Five years professional electromechanical experience in the manufacturing industry.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes standards and policies for installation, modification, testing, operating procedures, inspection, and maintenance of equipment according to engineering principles and safety regulations.
  • Programs, troubleshoots, and maintains PLCs (programmable logic controllers) and other forms of industrial automation.
  • Provides technical support to other departments regarding process and/or equipment changes.
  • Installs wiring circuits, switches, controls, and other electronic devices in accordance with specifications.
  • Diagnoses mechanical and electrical problems and makes necessary repairs in a timely fashion to reduce downtime.
  • Identifies areas where operations can be improved and made more efficient.
  • Carries out solutions to repair or upgrade equipment for improved operations.
  • Initiates purchase orders for parts and machines.
  • Performs lock out/tag out procedures, utilizes Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and adheres to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
