Apparatus Repair & Engineering, Inc. is a specialized electromechanical repair and service company serving industrial, commercial, municipal, and institutional customers throughout the region. We work on a wide variety of electric motors, pumps, generators, gearboxes, and other rotating equipment. AR&E is seeking an Electromechanical Technician – Motors, Pumps & Generators to join our team. This position is responsible for inspecting, testing, repairing, rebuilding, maintaining, and servicing AC and DC electric motors, generators, pumps, gearboxes, and related rotating equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities, attention to detail, a commitment to safety and quality workmanship, and a desire to continuously develop their technical skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and testing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and repair specifications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school, vocational training, apprenticeship, or military training in electrical or mechanical maintenance.
  • Experience repairing electric motors, generators, pumps, or rotating equipment.
  • Knowledge of EASA repair practices and electric motor testing procedures.
  • Forklift, rigging, or crane operation experience.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, inspect, and evaluate electric motors and rotating equipment to determine repair requirements.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical testing, including insulation resistance, winding resistance, vibration, and bearing assessments.
  • Identify root causes of equipment failures and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Document inspection findings and repair recommendations.
  • Repair, rebuild, and reassemble electric motors, generators, and related equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
  • Replace bearings, seals, shafts, fans, and other mechanical components as required.
  • Assist with motor rewinds, coil replacement, and insulation system repairs.
  • Perform balancing, alignment, and final assembly procedures.
  • Conduct operational testing to verify equipment performance and reliability.
  • Complete required quality control inspections and test documentation.
  • Ensure repaired equipment meets customer specifications and AR&E quality standards.
  • Install and remove motors and related equipment at customer facilities.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repair activities in both shop and field environments.
  • Communicate professionally with customers and company personnel regarding equipment condition, repair findings, and recommended repairs.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and safe work practices.
  • Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
