About The Position

The Electromechanical Technician III provides critical support for R&D activities and product development. This role involves building, testing, and maintaining complex equipment that integrates mechanical, electrical, and computer components. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on work and can successfully navigate a project from a concept sketch to a functional prototype while working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., engineering, chemistry (molecular), experimental theoretical physics) OR Associate's degree AND 4+ years of hands-on experience assembling and proficiency using hand tools for equipment assembly and parts modification OR Military AND 4+ years of hands-on experience assembling and proficiency using hand tools for equipment assembly and parts modification OR High School Diploma or equivalent AND 5+ years of hands-on experience assembling and proficiency using hand tools for equipment assembly and parts modification OR equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and build machinery using hand tools, power tools, soldering irons, welders, etc.
  • Assist the engineering team in determining product configurations based on utility and performance evaluations.
  • Assist in developing build paths to move products from concept-stage sketches to functional prototypes.
  • Operate specialized equipment, such as carbon growth and post-processing tools, as directed by the engineering team.
  • Perform routine maintenance and daily inspections on tool sets and facility equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair issues with lab equipment, facility equipment, and electromechanical machinery.
  • Maintain lab cleanliness and organization in collaboration with the Lab Manager.
  • Maintain and update Bills of Materials (BOMs), specification documentation, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Complete progress forms and document all test results to maintain accurate records of product development.
  • Partner with engineers, scientists, and project leads to confirm resource availability and evaluate design performance.
  • Ensure all work is done with an emphasis on safety.
