About The Position

This co-op opportunity is with Kardium, a company developing a groundbreaking medical device for the diagnosis and treatment of atrial fibrillation. The role involves assisting with non-conformance investigations, analyzing the impact of proposed processes and design changes on patients, and working on process improvements. This is a hybrid work arrangement located in Burnaby, BC, with a term starting in September 2025 for 4 or 8 months. Kardium has obtained FDA approval and is launching its Globe® Pulsed Field System, making this an exciting time to join the team.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Skilled in disassembling, inspecting, and analyzing electromechanical systems
  • Understanding of Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Enthusiasm toward finding innovative solutions to unforeseen challenges
  • A history of success working in a team setting
  • A strong grasp of mathematics and data analysis tools
  • Some experience with FMEAs and root cause analysis
  • Enrollment in post-secondary programs such as mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or other program related to medical device design and manufacturing

Responsibilities

  • Working collaboratively with Manufacturing on process improvement projects to increase production efficiency and reduce rate of defects, including MSAs (Measurement Systems Analyses).
  • Performing investigations of nonconformities in production, and assisting with root cause analysis of new failure modes.
  • Performing investigations of manufacturing product issues and incoming material issues and assist with their risk assessments.
  • Assisting with root cause analysis and testing to resolve issues relating to clinical feedback.
  • Assisting with monitoring and evaluating product quality, and process stability and capability.
  • Identifying trends and provide solutions for corrections or improvements.
