About The Position

This position is a part-time, 6-month contract where you will be part of a global inspection team assuring the quality of components and assemblies for a cloud services provider. You will be deployed based on client needs and supplier production schedules. You will perform visual, physical, and dimensional inspections (in-process and final) of machined, electro-mechanical, and other parts according to client requirements and specifications. This includes incoming inspection of external products/services, in-process and final inspection of critical features, compilation of inspection reports, verification of inspection equipment and methodology, auditing inspection plans, providing weekly reports on manufacturing sites, conducting quality audits of suppliers, driving closure of non-conformances, ensuring supplier quality control documentation, providing customer witness for test scripts (including FAT), validating equipment acceptability and compliance, and acting as on-site client representation.

Requirements

  • Steel frame welding experience
  • Physically able to kneel and/or climb a ladder if needed
  • Be able to read and interpret standard manufacturing drawings based on industry and commodity standards
  • 6+ years of experience in the industry or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Prior inspection with electromechanical components, especially switchgears or anything data center related is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection activities, including visual, physical, and dimensional (both in-process and final) of machined, electro-mechanical, and other parts, according to client requirements and specifications.
  • Conduct incoming inspection from external providers of products or services/processing (e.g., nickel plating).
  • Perform in-process and final inspection of critical features such as witness inspection.
  • Compile final inspection sign-off sheet and report packages.
  • Verify that inspection equipment used to take measurements is capable of detecting defects.
  • Verify that inspection methodology is adequate per drawing intent.
  • Audit and validate the execution of the inspection plan.
  • Provide weekly reports of manufacturing sites ramp progress, equipment quality performance of the facility, and delivery details by Data Center site.
  • Conduct periodic quality audits of the supplier’s factory and provide reports of results.
  • Drive closure of findings identified as non-conformance.
  • Ensure the supplier’s quality control system documents the findings.
  • Provide customer witness for test scripts, including but not limited to Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) for all equipment.
  • Validate equipment is acceptable with no issues and compliance to the Level 1 commissioning process (Red/Orange tags) before shipment to the Data Center.
  • Act as the on-site support representing the client.
