Experienced Electromagnetic Warfare Engineer

Integrated Solutions for SystemsAberdeen, MD

About The Position

We are seeking a highly capable Electromagnetic Warfare (EW) Engineer with strong RF domain knowledge and modern software development skills. The ideal candidate will support the design, development, and integration of advanced EW capabilities, with a particular emphasis on cognitive EW techniques, rapid prototyping, and AI/ML-enabled signal processing. This role is suited for an engineer who enjoys working at the intersection of RF systems, machine learning, and complex multi-domain integration challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Physics, or a related technical field.
  • 3–7 years of experience in EW, RF systems, radar, communications, or related disciplines.
  • Strong understanding of: RF fundamentals (modulation, propagation, waveforms, spectral analysis).
  • SDR platforms (e.g., GNU Radio, Ettus USRP, BladeRF, Redhawk SDR).
  • Signal processing techniques (FFT-based analysis, filtering, detection methods).
  • Proficiency in Python and C/C++, with familiarity in dataflow frameworks and embedded development.
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML codebases, including at least one deep-learning framework.
  • Experience with Linux-based development environments, containerization (Docker), and version control (Git).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance if required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Cognitive EW concepts (sense-learn-adapt cycles, online learning, EW autonomy).
  • FPGA programming (VHDL/Verilog or HLS).
  • RFML methods or AI/ML prior experience.
  • Modeling tools such as MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Multi-sensor fusion, PNT/EW convergence, or RF edge-processing architectures.
  • Familiarity with DoD EW standards, mission threads, and system-of-systems architectures.
  • Strong analytical thinking, creative problem solving, and engineering curiosity.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across interdisciplinary teams.
  • Clear communication and technical-writing skills for documentation and briefings.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, model, and characterize RF signal environments relevant to EW operational scenarios.
  • Develop algorithms for detection, classification, and exploitation of threat emitters across wideband/narrowband spectrums.
  • Evaluate EW system performance through simulation, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and field data.
  • Implement cognitive techniques such as adaptive sensing, autonomous emitter characterization, anomaly detection, and dynamic response strategies.
  • Develop and refine ML pipelines (classification, outlier detection, neural architectures, etc.) for RFML and cognitive EW functions.
  • Leverage frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX, Scikit-Learn, or similar.
  • Produce rapid prototypes for EW applications using embedded platforms, SDRs, radar/EW test equipment, and RF edge-processing architectures.
  • Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software teams to define system interfaces, data flows, and integration requirements.
  • Conduct experiments to validate prototype performance and iterate solutions based on test results.
  • Integrate EW algorithms into operational or pre-production system architectures (including SDR firmware, FPGA components, mission-system software, or tactical platforms).
  • Troubleshoot integration issues across RF hardware, embedded processors, software stacks, and networks.
  • Support documentation, mission-thread analysis, and system readiness evaluations.

Benefits

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision care plans.
  • Paid Time-off and Parental leave programs.
  • Group Term Life Insurance
  • 401(k) Plan – 6% Matching and 100% vested.
  • Employee Ownership.
  • Tuition Assistance, Training, and education development offerings.
