Electro-Optics Systems Engineer Intern (Summer 2027)

RTX•Goleta, CA
•$42,000 - $88,000•Onsite

About The Position

The Electro-Optical System Design Department is seeking an Electro-Optics Systems Engineer Intern to support the Advanced Products & Solutions Mission Area in developing and building advanced electro-optical systems. The intern will work on a design team developing systems that may include imagers, passive and active electro-optical tracking, LIDAR, and directed-energy systems. The intern will contribute to assessing system architectures, developing requirements, and supporting design and build efforts. The work includes assessing mission and system requirements, deriving design and performance requirements for subsystem and unit levels, and supporting understanding of verification and test activities to help create an integrated verification and validation (IV&V) plan that meets program requirements. The Electro-Optical System Design Department provides electro-optical systems engineering expertise to Space and Airborne Systems. Department roles include system architects and design engineers, integrated product team leadership, lead systems engineers and chief engineers, requirements engineers, and electro-optical systems analysts. This is an onsite internship in Goleta, California. U.S. citizenship is required. The role requires the ability to obtain a security clearance, although the posting lists the clearance type and status as not required.
