About The Position

Become part of a dynamic aerospace company. Ontic Engineering and Manufacturing Inc is currently looking for an Assembler for its operations center in Creedmoor, NC. Ontic is engaged primarily in electro-mechanical assemblies for the aerospace industry including general aviation, commercial and military applications. Ontic has a long history in the Aerospace and Defense marketplace, producing high quality products used in both legacy and modern applications. As an integral part of the build and test production team, responsible for the assembly and testing of various Electro-mechanical products, ensuring that the finished product conforms to exacting quality and production standards.

Requirements

  • 2 - 5 years Working in a similar assembly role, soldering experience required. (J-STD001 Preferred)
  • Possess excellent attention to detail and be able to demonstrate dexterity and hand to eye coordination.
  • Knowledge & Experience of working with electronic LRU’s containing PCB/modules.
  • Handling/soldering of through hole/SMT printed circuit boards
  • Ability to assemble under magnification
  • Troubleshoot and rework assembled units that fail standard tests
  • Assembly tasks may include some of the following: Adjusting and fitting parts to very tight tolerances, Working with parts which require special care in handling including ESD procedures, Soldering (J-STD-001 & IPC-A-610 preferred), Application of adhesives, Wiring, Crimping
  • Work closely with engineering personnel in the modification and repair of sub-assemblies and systems
  • Adherence to company policies including general workmanship, FOD control, and documentation
  • Uses equipment and work resources in a safe, responsible, and compliant way.
  • Effective communicator (verbal and written) and PC literate – competent in the use of MS Office applications and databases.
  • Numerate and Literate – attainment of academic or vocational passes in English and Math’s or able to demonstrate necessary standard through job related assessment.
  • Able to calculate the tolerances within drawings, calculate test results against specification limits to check for compliant parts/products, this will require: Basic mathematical calculations (addition/subtraction etc.)

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Applicants will be required to undertake and pass job specific assessments including numeracy, literacy, and dexterity testing. Post holders are required to undertake necessary medical surveillance including product or customer specific eye tests.
  • This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person ” as defined by 22. C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee.

Responsibilities

  • Understands and follows written instructions, including schematic drawings, specifications, work orders and engineering documentation.
  • Assemble, and inspection of various electronic/Mechanical products, wiring, coils, and final unit instruments using the correct tools, documentation, and procedures.
  • Compliance with production processes and procedures, production schedules and recording standards using business IT systems (i.e., ERP/MRP).
  • Ensure finished products conform to quality standards to enable progression to inspection and release process.
  • Provide cover during operational working hours (may include early swing and night shifts and/or fixed hours) and working overtime as required by the business.
  • Assist in the introduction of new products into the manufacturing environment ensuring successful business growth and product transition.
  • Willing to support domestic travel to learn manufacture of new products transitioning into the business. This may require the individual to be placed at potential vendors for short to medium term placements. Accommodation/expenses will be fully covered by Ontic.
  • Work across a variety or product lines according to business needs.
  • Support the learning and development of colleagues and the transfer of knowledge and skills.

  • Perform tests by setting up and utilizing test equipment and software such as oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, frequency generators, multi-meters, and other testing equipment.
  • Complete and maintain all required documentation and records accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist engineering personnel in the troubleshooting, modification, and/or repair of non-conforming units.
  • Additional duties to include, but not limited to calibration, in-line inspection, and final inspection of units/assemblies.
  • Perform maintenance on all test production equipment and fixtures, including soldering ability.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues that arise and create positive solutions.
  • Give support and resolve issues with test equipment supplied by the transition group.

  • Undertake other duties commensurate with the role that may be required from time to time.
