About The Position

In this role, the Electro-Mechanical Technician works independently within prototype, and production environments to build and troubleshoot simple to complex electro-mechanical assemblies and cable/wire harnesses. This role requires hands-on fabrication capability, and the ability to interpret complex technical data packages. Knowledge of IPC workmanship standards is a plus.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years relevant electro‑mechanical or cable/harness assembly experience in aerospace, defense, avionics, or similar industries.
  • Experience building and troubleshooting complex electrical and mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex electro‑mechanical drawings, cable drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and process documentation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certifications for IPC/WHMA‑A‑620, with IPC-A-610 and IPC J‑STD‑001 workmanship standards.
  • Familiarity with military and commercial quality specifications a plus.
  • Proficiency using crimp tools, continuity testers, cable testers, and mechanical assembly tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply logical problem‑solving skills to build issues and workflow improvements.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Strong attention to detail to effectively assemble and test assemblies
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with engineers, quality, and other cross‑functional partners.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and meet manual dexterity requirements for small‑part work.
  • Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform builds of simple to complex electro-mechanical assemblies, cable harnesses, and sub‑systems using engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, sketches, and work instructions.
  • Assemble electronic components, such as resistors, capacitors, circuit boards, and wire harnesses into larger systems.
  • Fabricate, shield, splice, terminate, and install connectors into cable harnesses.
  • Perform crimping operations using various crimp tools, tool selectors, and military/commercial‑grade termination tooling.
  • Working with hand tools such as soldering irons, wire strippers, crimpers, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, and torque wrenches
  • Perform soldering operations. Knowledge of IPC J‑STD‑001 a plus.
  • Build simple to complex wire harnesses. Knowledge of IPC/WHMA‑A‑620 a plus.
  • Build electronic assemblies. Knowledge of IPC-A-610 a plus.
  • Assemble by hand or using semiautomatic/automatic assembly equipment.
  • Adhere to ESD, calibration, shelf‑life, and safety procedures at all times.
  • Operate semi‑complex electro‑mechanical assembly equipment and verify build quality through self‑inspection
  • Assist in the transition of new products to manufacturing.
