About The Position

The Electro-Mechanical Technician I is responsible for maintaining and repairing manufacturing equipment in standard conditions to minimize equipment downtime, increase product yield, and optimize machine reliability while meeting Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and Quality requirements. This role will require daily execution and documentation of preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, changeovers, and spare parts management. Electro-Mechanical Technician, I may participate in small scale projects to support the install, implementation, and commissioning of new equipment or components.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in manufacturing maintenance or equivalent on mechanical and electrical equipment, preferably in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) manufacturing environment
  • Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical drawings, bill of materials, and manuals.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance practices and terminology.
  • Has a basic understanding of utility equipment such as air compressors, dust collectors, HVAC, and electrical power distribution.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and machine shop equipment
  • Basic math and measurement skills required.
  • Familiarity with EHS and quality regulations.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Customer service oriented to serve internal customers and work with external contractors.
  • Intermediate problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Able to work well independently and as a team. Able to accept constructive feedback.
  • Able to communicate verbally and written technical details to peers and stakeholders.
  • Able to meet the physical requirements of the position including standing on feet for long periods of time while evaluating job tasks, completing audits and teaching maintenance skills.
  • Able to meet the physical requirements of the position requiring heavy lifting up to 50lbs, carrying tools and supplies, kneeling and stooping and standing on feet for long periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Performs troubleshooting on blending and high-speed packaging manufacturing lines in standard conditions, which includes mechanical and electrical manufacturing equipment such as conveyors, end-of-arm robots, automated material handlers, motors, pumps, variable frequency drives, x-rays, thermal sealers, carton erectors, PLCs/HMIs, and scales.
  • Executes and documents preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • May assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures or Work Instructions.
  • Utilize CMMS to document maintenance work orders and spare parts consumed for a job.
  • Execute equipment changeovers on designated equipment.
  • Ensure food safety, product quality, and plant EHS guidelines are met as specified by federal, state, local authorities including OSHA, HAACP, GMP, plant specific and company guidelines.
  • Participate in continuous improvement by providing suggestions towards improving operational efficiency, EHS, and/or quality.
  • Participate in small scale projects to support the install, implementation, and commissioning of new equipment or components.
  • Provides or enters metrics and technical details in Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Daily Accountability Board
