About The Position

Hands-on hourly technical team leader who enables Electro-Mechanical Technicians to execute the shift maintenance plan safely, effectively, and to standard. Combines advanced mechanical, electrical, automation, processing, and packaging expertise with work coordination, coaching, breakdown leadership, documentation, and reliability improvement. This is not a supervisor role and carries no independent authority for discipline, hiring, pay, or final performance ratings.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Three to five years of experience as a maintenance technician, including technical leadership experience.
  • Advanced multi-craft capability in mechanical power transmission, pneumatics and hydraulics, industrial electricity, motors and controls, VFDs, servo systems, PLC/HMI diagnostics, instrumentation, and automation.
  • Ability to read schematics, P&IDs, network drawings, and control narratives

Nice To Haves

  • Two-year technical degree or equivalent training preferred.
  • One or more relevant professional certifications, such as Mechatronics, Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT), ISA Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST), NFPA 70E electrical-safety training, or Rockwell Automation controls training, are preferred.
  • Provide technical leadership for liquid processing line equipment’s like storage and transfer, mixing, homogenization, heat treatment, pumps, sanitary valves, instrumentation, recipes, CIP, and interlocks; cup and bottle filling, sealing, capping, labeling and coding, conveyors, case packing, robotics, palletizing, and inspection; and meat handling, grinding, cooking and cooling, blending, pumping, weighing, transfer, and packing equipment, including production-utility interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the daily implementation of maintenance activities in accordance with established standards through validation and oversight throughout the shift.
  • Coordinate daily technical execution, clarify priorities, balance planned and break-in work, match assignments to validated skills, and escalate barriers and technical or personnel matters to the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager when necessary.
  • Lead complex breakdown response by establishing safe conditions, organizing parallel diagnostics, communicating status, estimated restoration time, and risk, validating restoration, and ensuring that permanent follow-up work is created.
  • Coach technicians during troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, rebuilds, and commissioning; reinforce systematic diagnosis, build equipment-specific capability, support qualification pathways, and preserve critical knowledge across shifts.
  • Provide advanced support for power, control, and safety circuits; motors; VFDs; servo systems; PLCs/HMIs; remote I/O; instrumentation; industrial networks; process systems; and precision mechanical maintenance within qualification and change-control requirements.
  • Audit SAP/AMM or Prometheus work-order quality and follow-up. Lead Breakdown Analysis and Go-See Think Do activities for significant failures; develop troubleshooting guides, one-point lessons, and centerlines. Support preventive and predictive maintenance optimization, equipment criticality, asset and BOM accuracy, spare-parts strategy, backups, and obsolescence actions using SAP data and digital tools.
  • Compile end-of-shift metrics, including executed versus non-executed work, downtime events and root causes, incident reports, crew labor utilization, and other measures required to demonstrate compliance with Maintenance Foundations.
  • Participate in shift-handover meetings at the beginning and end of each shift, ensuring effective communication and thorough transfer of ongoing issues and pass-on work orders.
  • Oversee daily work traffic and coordinate radio communications.
  • Act as backup for the Maintenance Supervisor during the supervisor’s absence and designate a mechanic to serve as assistant backup coordinator.
  • Prioritize the work plan, particularly when technicians are on vacation or otherwise unavailable, and redistribute responsibilities among the crew to address staffing gaps.
  • Communicate restoration timelines and associate risks effectively to Operations Supervisors to minimize disruption caused by technical issues.
  • Remove obstacles that prevent technicians from completing assigned work and escalating issues to the Maintenance Supervisor when assistance is required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
