About The Position

This role applies electrical theory, Ohm’s Law, Electrical code, base programming, and related knowledge to repair, calibrate, and modify electrical components, circuitry, and controls. The secondary role is responsible for the set-up, adjustment, maintenance, and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment used in the production facility. The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 5 years of mechanical and electrical experience, and possess basic skills in motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and programmable controllers. A desire to continuously improve knowledge of existing and new equipment is essential. Experience with PLC troubleshooting, HVAC skills, fabricating, TIG and MIG welding is preferred, as is experience in the food industry. The role requires the ability to use hand tools, good motor coordination, a proven record of safe equipment handling, attention to detail for sensitive adjustments, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Good communication skills are necessary, along with the flexibility to adjust schedules to provide electrical support across all shifts.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 5 years mechanical and electrical experience
  • Basic skills test required
  • Demonstrate knowledge of motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, programmable controllers, basic electric skills
  • Desire to continue to improve ability and knowledge of existing and new equipment

Responsibilities

  • Adjusts functional parts of machine devices and control instruments, including changeovers to new sizes and running adjustments to maintain maximum product and quality in supporting all manufacturing needs.
  • Disassembles and inspects parts, rebuilds and overhauls complete machines and machine components.
  • Reads blueprints and realizes intent.
  • Performs PLC installation, basic programming, and troubleshooting of process systems.
  • Provides technical and electrical expertise for plant operations.
  • Assists the Engineering department when reviewing outdated electrical components.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs electrical or electronic wiring and equipment.
  • Evaluates and maintains electrical or electronic wiring and equipment.
  • Assembles and test operates machine to verify correction of malfunction.
  • Performs preventive maintenance tasks provided through eMaint/CMMS.
  • Performs preventive maintenance checks and records all data as assigned.
  • Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
  • Removes and replaces worn or defective parts.
  • Follows all GMPs, SOPs and maintains a current understanding of the regulation and requirements of the industry applicable government agencies.
  • Trains new hires.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
