About The Position

Tec Centro – Capital Region is seeking an experienced Electro-Mechanical / Industrial Maintenance Instructor to provide hands-on technical training to individuals preparing for careers in industrial maintenance, manufacturing, electrical, automation, and skilled trades. This role involves teaching core industrial maintenance and electro-mechanical skills through a combination of classroom, laboratory, demonstration, and hands-on instruction. The training content may adapt based on employer needs, student skill levels, available equipment, and evolving workforce requirements. The ideal candidate is hands-on, patient, a strong communicator, safety-focused, a mentor, industry-minded, adaptable, and career-focused.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on industry experience in one or more of the following: Industrial maintenance, Industrial electrical, Electrical maintenance, Electro-mechanical systems, Manufacturing maintenance, Automation and controls, PLCs, Mechanical maintenance, Industrial machinery, Mechatronics.
• Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot industrial equipment and systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and proper work practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to individuals with varying levels of education and experience.
• Ability and willingness to work in a hands-on training environment.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience teaching, training, mentoring, or supervising employees.
• Experience working with apprentices, entry-level technicians, or individuals entering the skilled trades.
• PLC programming or troubleshooting experience.
• Industrial automation and controls experience.
• Manufacturing or production equipment experience.
• OSHA and/or NFPA 70E knowledge.
• Lockout/Tagout experience.
• Relevant industry certifications or licenses.
• Associate degree, technical diploma, or formal training in electrical, electro-mechanical, industrial maintenance, automation, mechatronics, or a related field.
• Teaching experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong industry experience combined with the ability to teach, communicate, and mentor others is highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Provide a combination of classroom, laboratory, demonstration, and hands-on instruction covering core industrial maintenance and electro-mechanical skills.
• Teach topics including electrical fundamentals, AC/DC electrical systems, industrial wiring, motors, motor controls, starters, relays, contactors, transformers, electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics, industrial electrical systems, mechanical systems and power transmission, bearings, belts, chains, gears, couplings, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, industrial controls and automation, PLCs, sensors, switches, control devices, preventive and predictive maintenance, industrial equipment troubleshooting, reading electrical schematics and mechanical drawings, electrical meters and diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), OSHA and workplace safety practices, basic industrial maintenance principles, workplace communication and professionalism, and job readiness and expectations for industrial environments.
• Adapt training content based on employer needs, student skill levels, available equipment, and changing workforce requirements.
• Model professional and safe workplace practices.
• Help students develop technical skills and confidence.
• Understand and communicate employer expectations for entry-level industrial maintenance and technical workers.
• Adjust instruction to different learning styles, student abilities, equipment, and employer requirements.
• Help individuals develop technical skills that can lead to sustainable careers.
• Address the growing demand for qualified industrial maintenance, electrical, automation, and skilled-trades professionals.
