Build prototypes, analyze failures, and transition successful projects into production. Work with Mechanical and Electrical engineers to create designs that can be integrated into a manufacturing workflow. Use SolidWorks to design parts, create assemblies, and create detailed engineering drawings complete with GD&T. Review and interpret technical specifications, validate requirements for design, and manage manufacturing milestones to support component deliverables. Work with production staff to understand problem areas and create solutions with little direction. Author engineering changes and test procedures for complex ROV systems and subsystems. Support the development of standard processes and documentation. Inspect parts and assemblies to ensure adherence to quality standards. Participate in ECN, MRB, critical design review, and DFMA meetings. Resolve technical problems that would significantly affect performance, cost or schedule. Lead Design Reviews, run analysis, define and execute hardware test plans, propose and implement changes. Review, interpret and approve technical documents, designs and schematics. Drive the development of comprehensive mechanical engineering specifications for new product development, support the prototype development process throughout product development to production release. Communicate and support engineering team, designers, and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information. Coordinate with other departments affected by new product design, development and release. Investigate pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, efficiency, requirements and cost.
