About The Position

This role performs hands-on assembly of electronic and mechanical assemblies in a classified production environment within the Antenna Integration Factory (AIF) at the McKinney, TX site. Assembly operations include both production and development/prototype units. The assembly technician will work directly with engineering on production builds and rework tasks. This position is working on-site at our McKinney, TX site, working 2nd Shift. Overtime may be required on occasion.

Requirements

Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D in the US) or vocational/ technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
Experience performing assemblies using work instructions, engineering drawings, schematics, and related documentation with limited supervision
US Citizen - Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice To Haves

Experience working with small fasteners, connectors, and sub-assemblies, requiring fine hand and finger dexterity
Experience working in a classified or proprietary program environment is preferred.
Experience with wire routing and connector mating
Experience performing rework, repair, or replacement operations on electronic or mechanical assemblies
Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment with structured work instructions and quality documentation requirements
Familiarity with production tracking systems such as SAP, CMES, or similar manufacturing execution systems
Military electronics or electromechanical maintenance training from any branch of service is valued, including but not limited to Navy Aviation Electrician’s Mate (AE), Aviation Electronics Technician (AT), Electronics Technician (ET), or Aviation Structural Mechanic (AM); Air Force Integrated Avionics (2A3X2, 2A3X5, 2A5X3) or Aircraft Electrical and Environmental Systems (2A6X6); Army Electronic Maintenance and Calibration CMF 94 specialties including 94A, 94E, 94F, or 94R; and equivalent Marine Corps or Coast Guard electronics, avionics, or aviation maintenance ratings

Responsibilities

Perform hands-on assembly of electronic and mechanical assemblies in a classified production environment. Work is performed using detailed work instructions with accompanying photographs — attention to detail and strict adherence to documented procedures are essential.
Clock into the production tracking system, participating in tier meetings for task assignment, drawing parts kits and sub-assemblies, reviewing work instructions, checking out calibrated torque tools, and gathering required consumables.
Visual inspections prior to installation of all parts and sub-assemblies. Some inspections require the use of a microscope or magnifying glass; most are a quick visual check for damage, defects, or nonconformance.
Assemble tasks including: wire routing, connector mating, bracket installation using feeler gauges, and installation of sub-assemblies into the main assembly. Nearly all fasteners require thread locking compound and torque to specification. Work is currently performed with manual torque drivers and wrenches.
Perform work at both seated workstations and standing positions throughout the shift. Assemblies are built at workstations or using automated bonding machines (SFD)
As proficiency develops, technicians will be assigned rework operations — removal and replacement of sub-assemblies on units that have failed testing. Rework requires a higher level of understanding of the build process and work instructions, as the sequence does not follow a linear start-to-finish flow.
After all work and rework operations are completed, a visual inspection of the affected areas must be performed before the unit is moved forward in the production queue.
Document all work in the appropriate production system as each operation is completed. When errors, discrepancies, or issues are identified during the build, technicians are expected to stop work and bring the issue to their supervisor and supporting engineer immediately.
