About The Position

This role is part of Alcon's Engineering function, a team focused on improving quality, processes, products, packaging and materials across our business to help deliver brilliant outcomes. The Electro Maintenance Technician (Science/Tech/Engineering Path) is primarily responsible for performing advanced technical work related to the development, operation, and maintenance of electromechanical systems. This role requires strong troubleshooting, testing, installation, calibration, and repair skills, as well as the ability to apply advanced technical knowledge and problem-solving capabilities. You will work closely with engineers to support reliable system performance and deliver effective technical solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on technical work to support the design, development, operation, and maintenance of electromechanical systems and production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, test, assemble, install, calibrate, repair, and upgrade electromechanical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and control system components.
  • Execute scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities, including preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance, to ensure equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Diagnose and repair nonconforming equipment through rework, modification, and component replacement to restore systems to “as-built” condition.
  • Inspect, monitor, and maintain equipment using appropriate tools, measurement devices, and diagnostic software.
  • Support the execution of change controls, validations, test scripts, and protocols; assist with performing and documenting validation activities.
  • Accurately document all maintenance and technical activities in accordance with company and regulatory requirements, including use of maintenance management systems (e.g., Maximo), SOPs, and test records.
  • Ensure compliance with GxP regulations by following SOPs, maintaining accurate documentation, completing required training, and upholding quality and compliance standards.
  • Act as a first responder to potential safety-related or critical system conditions (e.g., SIFs), when applicable.
  • Provide day-to-day technical support to engineers and operations by assisting with troubleshooting, tools, parts, and equipment issues.
  • Participate in CAPA, FMEA, CCR, and continuous improvement initiatives focused on process optimization, quality, yield improvement, and cost reduction.
  • Lead or contribute to small-scale technical projects, including equipment retrofits, upgrades, and maintenance system improvements.
  • Assist supervisors and production support leads with testing, trials, and evaluations of proposed process changes.
  • Mentor and support team members and production personnel by sharing technical knowledge and assisting with complex equipment issues.
  • Operate within established procedures with limited decision-making responsibility while meeting individual performance objectives and supporting organizational compliance.
  • Demonstrate commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement through proactive problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration.
