Electrification Services Application Engineer
About The Position
At ABB, we help industries run leaner and cleaner. This position reports to the EL Sales Support Manager - Commercial Operations. In this role, you’ll provide technical support to the Regional Commercial team in the development of field services proposals for power delivery, power utilization, and automation equipment and systems. You will identify and propose value-added service solutions to a broad range of industrial, utility, and commercial customers, including Power Distribution upgrades, Relay upgrades, and Arc Flash Mitigation Solutions. This is a fast-paced, customer-facing role requiring strong field service technical skills and highly effective communication skills. The work model is remote, supporting several states in the West Region (CA, HI) commercial team. Living options are within California, and the ability and willingness to travel 50% of the time within the coverage area is required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering or Electrical Engineering preferred) from an accredited college or university with 6 years of experience OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
- Experience in application engineering or field engineering in power delivery products and systems.
- Experience working with customers in the Oil & Gas, metals, mining, paper, Power Gen, data center, commercial building or similar business segments preferred.
- Experienced in reviewing customer specifications, developing proposals, and managing contract development and negotiations preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication abilities, skilled in delivering impactful presentations and engaging with all organizational levels.
- Proven interpersonal and leadership skills with a customer-focused mindset; adept at working in team-oriented environments to create complex, integrated solutions.
- Creative problem solver with an innovative approach to challenges, capable of developing and writing technical specifications and proposals leveraging the full ABB portfolio.
- Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new business opportunities, introduce new products/services, and contribute to regional sales, orders, profitability, and ITO quality goals.
- Develop and present technical solutions aligned with customer needs, influence specifications, and prepare high-quality proposal content highlighting scope, benefits, and compliance.
- Provide technical leadership for Field Service proposals, including site assessments, material/labor requirements, competitive analysis, and support for engineering work scopes, schedules, and cost estimates.
- Communicate fulfillment requirements to sourcing and operations, document competitor activities, and support NPI programs to maintain a strong market position.
