About The Position

Electricians play a vital role in sawmill operations, ensuring that electrical equipment is in proper working condition and that mill production is optimized. This position will assist in planning layouts, installation, and repairing wiring of electrical fixtures, heavy machinery, and control equipment. The qualified candidate will hold a Journeyman's license or equivalent training through a formal apprenticeship program.

Requirements

  • Hold a Journeyman's license or equivalent training through a formal apprenticeship program.
  • Modeling, implementing, and complying with all company safety rules and industry standards
  • Utilize troubleshooting skills to assist in designing and repairing electrical systems
  • Understanding and working with Three-phase systems, Controls, Transformers, Tempo sonic linear positions, MCCs, Variable Frequency Drives
  • Troubleshooting with Allen Bradly PLC processors, series 5, 500, and 5000
  • Bending and working with RMC, IMC, and EMT conduit
  • Must be able to use and interpret the NEC codebook.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including climbing and heavy lifting.
  • Be willing to work weekends and holidays.
  • Be willing to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, in all weather conditions.
  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Must be willing to join a union under the current contractually bargained language.
  • Candidates will be subject to comprehensive pre-employment drug screening, inclusive of marijuana (THC).

Nice To Haves

  • Sawmill experience.
  • Experience with millwrighting, hydraulics, welding, and pneumatics.
  • Familiarity with sawmill optimization and scanning equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan new or modified installations to minimize material waste, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, in accordance with local electrical codes and specifications.
  • Prepares sketches showing the location of wiring and equipment or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before the completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
  • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit.
  • Pulls wiring through conduit.
  • Splice wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires, and applying tape or terminal caps.
  • Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
  • Installs control and distribution apparatus, including switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
  • Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads.
  • Test circuit continuity to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as an ohmmeter, a battery, a buzzer, and an oscilloscope.
  • Observes the functioning of installed equipment or systems to detect hazards and the need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • Repairs faulty equipment or systems.
  • Cuts and welds steel structural members.
  • PLC programming.
  • Troubleshoots electrical issues or ways to improve mill functionality.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on mill equipment to keep it in optimal condition
  • Stay current with technology and technical skills through ongoing learning and training, both on the job and in the classroom.
