Under general supervision, inspects, maintains, repairs and operates substations, and does such similar work in the electric system, performing the duties included in the Time Merit Progression Program for Electrician. This role involves repairing and maintaining various electrical equipment, performing electrical tests, operating substations, and ensuring the integrity of the underground system. The electrician will also be responsible for reading and interpreting technical diagrams, making repairs to tools and equipment, and reporting abnormal conditions. Additionally, the role includes working on live electrical conductors, installing and repairing wiring and control circuits, testing various electrical components, and performing routine maintenance. The position requires a working knowledge of insulating oils and SF6 gas applications, as well as the ability to operate motor vehicles safely. The electrician will also assist in training helpers, provide substation escorts, and be subject to on-call duty assignments. Keeping substation buildings and grounds in good order, including minor repairs and snow removal, is also part of the responsibilities. The role involves working indoors or outdoors as required, with potential for overtime, storm restoration, and emergency assignments. Other related duties as assigned.
