About The Position

Wabtec Corporation is a leading global provider of equipment, systems, digital solutions, and value-added services for freight and transit rail as well as the mining, marine, and industrial markets. The Locomotive Electrician will build and rebuild locomotives and locomotive assemblies. The work site will depend on the current project or projects, and potential for travel should be expected. The candidate will be expected to maintain and project a professional image for the company. This role requires the ability to work in West Wareham, MA.

Requirements

  • Five years equivalent experience building and/or maintaining heavy equipment.
  • Strong understanding of locomotive maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with others.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply understanding to conduct instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Regularly required to use hands to grasp, pull, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to work in awkward positions.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Communication by talking and listening are required.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to work in West Wareham, MA.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing experience a plus.
  • Preferred experience working with diesel engines, propulsion and pneumatics in large industry such as, Rail, Agriculture, Mining, Marine, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing and troubleshoot electrical and pneumatic systems.
  • Read electrical, pneumatic schematics.
  • Operate electrical test equipment.
  • Design basic electrical circuits.
  • Install electrical components.
  • Run and terminate wiring.
  • Cut, crimp, and install cabling.
  • Pull wire harnessed through conduit.
  • Drill and tap holes.
  • Clean, sandblast and paint old parts.
  • Disassemble, assemble locomotive parts and subassemblies.
  • Know and understand FRA rules (training required).
  • Interact with customers (minimal).
  • Teamwork with customers and co-workers.
  • Perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
