About The Position

Responsible for general electrical work required for installation, maintenance, and repair of all electrical equipment and systems necessary for construction, renovation, or maintenance in designated County buildings. Will be required to be on-call after hours. Harris County is an Equal Opportunity Employer. This position is subject to a criminal history check. Requirements

  • High school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency.
  • Current State Journeyman Electrician's license is required.
  • Five (5) years of hands-on experience in commercial or residential electrical work.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions thoroughly, neatly, and promptly, and be skilled in reading and building from blueprints.
  • Understand and have thorough knowledge of electrical tools and codes, and display mechanical aptitude.
  • Maintain a courteous, helpful behavior at all times.
  • Self-starter possessing the interpersonal skills required to be a productive team player.
  • Ability to receive CJIS clearance, pass a security check, and a drug test, as required.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License and a good driving record.
  • Applicants for this position will be subject to a criminal background check, including fingerprinting.
  • Convictions, probation, or deferred adjudication for any Felony, and any Class A Misdemeanor Convictions, probation, or deferred adjudication for a Class B Misdemeanor, if within the previous 10 years
  • Open arrest for any criminal offense (Felony or Misdemeanor)
  • Family Violence conviction

Responsibilities

  • Performs all duties required to install, estimate time and materials, maintain, or repair electrical equipment and systems in County buildings.
  • Assists and trains less experienced co-workers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Be available for temporary deployment to an alternative work location, role, or telework assignment during emergency events.
  • Confirm work assignments with their supervisor prior to reporting to any worksite during such events.
  • Remain flexible in assuming alternative duties as directed to support County operations continuity.
