About The Position

The Nexus Water Group team has an opportunity for Electrician Maintenance. The Electrician Maintenance position is responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment used in water and wastewater treatment, pumping, storage, and distribution facilities. This role ensures the safe, reliable, and continuous operation of electrical infrastructure supporting critical public utility services. Work is performed in compliance with applicable electrical codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience performing industrial or commercial electrical maintenance, preferably in water, wastewater, utilities, manufacturing, or other process‑control environments.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a recognized electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent combination of education, training, and progressively responsible electrical maintenance experience.
  • Journeyman Electrician license or ability to obtain required licensure within a specified period (if applicable per state or local requirements).
  • Electrical safety practices, including lockout/tagout and arc‑flash protection
  • Motors, motor controls, MCCs, VFDs, and generators
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, one‑line diagrams, and control drawings.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical and electromechanical equipment using appropriate testing instruments.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation, control wiring, and automated systems (SCADA or PLC systems preferred).
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, around wastewater processes, and in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to respond to after‑hours emergencies, stand‑by duty, and rotating on‑call schedules as required.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems including motors, motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), generators, transformers, lighting systems, and control panels.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical and electromechanical equipment at water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, wells, and remote facilities.
  • Diagnose electrical malfunctions using testing instruments, schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals; determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Install, modify, and maintain instrumentation and control wiring associated with SCADA systems, level sensors, flow meters, telemetry, and alarms.
  • Read, interpret, and update electrical drawings, schematics, and ladder logic diagrams as required.
  • Respond to emergency callouts and power failures to restore service and minimize operational downtime.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, confined space entry, arc‑flash protection, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure all work complies with National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA regulations, and applicable local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Coordinate electrical work with operations staff, supervisors, contractors, and engineers to support plant and system operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and parts usage in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Assist with commissioning new equipment, facility upgrades, and system improvements.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and orderly condition.
  • Perform related duties assigned to support utility operations.
