About The Position

Turner Industries Group L.L.C. is looking for an experienced Electrician that has some experience with operating dirt equipment for a job in Beaumont, TX. This is a non-exempt role that reports to the Foreman or Site Manager/Superintendent. The position involves planning, installing, and repairing wiring, electrical fixtures, and control equipment, as well as operating industrial trucks or tractors to move materials. Work is checked frequently, and assigned duties follow specific procedures.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent
  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
  • Knowledge of electrician's tools and how to use them
  • Working on or above 600V or 69kV industrial high voltage distribution systems requires qualification
  • Most jobsites require NCCER certification for A-class Electricians
  • Written pre-employment qualification test
  • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
  • Jobsite safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.)
  • Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace
  • Minimum (2) years of experience for Dirt Operating

Responsibilities

  • Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provides access for future maintenance, and avoids unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring.
  • Prepares sketches showing the location of wiring and equipment or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring concealed wiring is installed before completion of walls, ceilings, and flooring.
  • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit.
  • Pulls wiring through conduit.
  • Splices wires and connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
  • Installs control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels.
  • Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric ranges or motors, and installs grounding leads.
  • Tests continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components.
  • Observes functioning of installed equipment or systems to determine hazards and the need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • May repair faulty equipment or systems.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
  • Inspect product load for accuracy and safely move it around the warehouse or facility to ensure timely and complete delivery.
  • Move controls to drive gasoline- or electric-powered trucks, cars, or tractors and transport materials between loading, processing, and storage areas.
  • Move levers and controls that operate lifting devices, such as forklifts, lift beams and swivel-hooks, hoists, and elevating platforms, to load, unload, transport, and stack material.
  • Position lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secure material or products for transport to designated areas.
  • Manually or mechanically load and unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, cars, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles.
  • Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, recharging batteries, fueling, or replacing liquefied-gas tanks.
  • Signal workers to discharge, dump, or level materials.
