About The Position

Quaker Peterborough is looking for an experienced Electrician to join their team. This role involves being the first responder to assist with expertise in support of all area breakdowns across the plant. The electrician will be expected to quickly respond and diagnose problems, determine the best method of repair based on safety and production requirements, and implement alternative solutions to keep production/packaging lines running. Collaboration with operations during maintenance sessions and other departments for maintenance requirements is key. The role also includes ensuring Preventive Maintenance and inspections are completed, providing follow-ups for future work, and properly closing out work orders. Working with the Maintenance Coordinator, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), trades, and operations to drive process improvement projects is also a responsibility. The electrician will work collaboratively with other trades and SMEs on various projects, rebuilds, and maintenance tasks.

Requirements

  • 309A OR 442A certification
  • Ability to install, repair, service, test and troubleshoot equipment
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and diagnostic skills
  • Working knowledge of the equipment needed for the job
  • Ability to work independently without much supervision
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job which include bending, lifting heavy equipment and working in tight spaces
  • Ability to effectively manage time
  • Availability for 5x8 or 7x24 rotation

Nice To Haves

  • PLC experience
  • VFD and Servo Control experience

Responsibilities

  • Act as the customer service/technical point of contact, responding to all plant breakdowns with expertise.
  • Quickly respond to and diagnose problems, determining the best repair method based on safety and production requirements.
  • Assess failures and implement alternative solutions to maintain production/packaging line operations.
  • Collaborate with operations during Autonomous Maintenance and Breakdown Maintenance sessions.
  • Address reoccurring problems and other department maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure Preventive Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance Inspections are completed.
  • Provide detailed follow-ups of future work needed.
  • Ensure all work orders are properly closed out in a timely manner.
  • Work with the Maintenance Coordinator, other Department SMEs, trades, and operations to drive process improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with other trades and Department SMEs on projects, rebuilds, Autonomous Maintenance, Preventative Maintenance, Breakdown Maintenance, and other jobs as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
