About The Position

ASRC Federal Communications is seeking an Electrician for our ISS2 contract supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located on Wake Island. It’s a rotational position in which the selected employee will work a schedule of 3 months on the island and one month off unpaid. While working on-site, housing is provided in the form of a dormitory facility, and all meals are furnished through the cafeteria. You are responsible for the flight from your home base to HNL. Transportation to Wake Island is provided by government-sponsored aircraft. This is a negotiated union position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Journeyman Electrician's License
  • Ability to perform associated mathematical calculations.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of safety management
  • Strong MS Office and other computer skills
  • Knowledge of pertinent local, state and federal laws, ordinances, codes, and rules
  • Ability to speak, write and read English.
  • Must have state drives licenses and acceptable record.
  • Must pass a background check, drug screening, fingerprints, and a fit-for-duty physical exam; candidates must be medically cleared for long-term residency in a remote location with limited access to healthcare.
  • Candidates must be US citizens and be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for installation and construction with some maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment
  • Knowledge of the proper use of standard wire, conduit, fittings and hardware commonly found in industrial plants.
  • Read and understand conduit drawings, schematics, drawings, and specifications.
  • Responsible for use and care of the tools and equipment commonly employed in industrial construction, including but not limited to: hydraulic/electric benders, knockout punch sets, cable puller, meggers, hi-pot equipment, volt meters, multi-testers ammeter
  • Able to set and coordinate over-current protective devices, size feeder circuits and basic understanding to work on systems across the island.
