About The Position

M.C. Dean is seeking an Electrician to join their Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. This unit designs, engineers, integrates, operates, and maintains electronic security services, including intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio visual, IT systems, perimeter defense, and command and control systems for federal, local, and commercial customers. The role involves installing basic electrical equipment and systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of experience working in the electrical industry.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Must successfully pass a background check and drug test.
  • Reliable Transportation.
  • Journeyman's license is REQUIRED.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Ability to work at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
  • Ability to walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  • Ability to use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
  • Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  • Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Active Secret clearance is required with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI with polygraph.

  • Leading teams on large complex installation projects with limited supervision.
  • Leading and documenting daily toolbox talks, ORMs, and Safety Audits.
  • Installation of head end equipment for access control, intrusion detection, and CCTV systems.
  • Performing take-off project drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Installs basic electrical equipment and systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.
  • Assembles, installs, tests, and maintains electrical or electronic wiring, conduit, cable, equipment, components, and devices associated with electrical equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans.
  • Installs and mounts electronic controls, devices, panels, sensors, and components.
  • Performs interlock wiring as required.
  • Tests electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices.
  • Inspects installation sites and studies work orders, building plans, and installation manuals in order to determine materials requirements and installation procedures.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problems.
  • Reads contract drawings.
  • Troubleshoots EMS systems, smart breakers, and relays.
