About The Position

Performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy. This role involves working from blueprints, diagnosing electrical system issues, and performing maintenance on assigned distribution systems. The position also requires communication with customers regarding work requests and completing detailed work notes. The Electrician must be able to respond to emergency calls, including nights and weekends, and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

Journeyman or Master Electrician License required.
GED or High School Diploma
Experience working in an outdoor or indoor building environment.
Able to understand verbal or written directions from lead, supervisor or other craftsmen.
Ability to perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of traffic signal electrical systems.
Experience installing and troubleshooting traffic signals, controllers, detection systems, conduit, and underground electrical systems.
Ability to interpret electrical schematics, traffic signal plans, and wiring diagrams
Ability to safely perform electrical work in active roadway and traffic environments.

Nice To Haves

OSHA 10 Preferred
Traffic signal/traffic-control electrical experience preferred.
Traffic-control certification/training.

Responsibilities

Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
Installation and repair of a variety of electrical equipment, such as generators, transformers, ATS equipment, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, disconnects, motors, heating units, conduit systems, variable frequency drives, UPS, MCC’s, Etc.
Working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
Locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment.
Working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
Use a variety of electrician hand tools and test & measurement instruments.
Perform maintenance and service as needed to support ongoing facility operations for the Facilities Department.
Perform monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual preventive maintenance on assigned distribution systems and report corrective actions required.
Communicates with customers regarding work request status and coordination.
Completes written work request notes reflecting details accomplished.
Ability to respond to emergency calls as needed, to include nights and weekends.
Other duties as assigned.
