About The Position

Install, maintain and repair equipment and systems for the storage, transmission, distribution, control, utilization, and conservation of electrical energy. The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time: Conduct preventive maintenance in accordance with the established scheduling system Inspect, diagnose, test, install, maintain and repair electrical equipment Conduct routine rounds of the facility and perform a variety of routine service and repair tasks to monitor and maintain electrical systems and equipment Make necessary repairs and maintain essential electrical life safety systems including but not limited to, fire alarm system, emergency generators, switchgear, transfer switches, etc. Complete in-service for physical plant, building, HVAC and Life Safety systems and equipment Participate in performance improvement and information management activities Investigate incidents involving the physical plant, electrical systems/equipment and components, utility system components and equipment and makes recommendations to supervisor Provide technical assistance to department staff by trouble shooting and resolving problems associated with the operation and repair of the physical plant, electrical systems/equipment and components and utility system components and equipment Perform periodic inspections of mechanical and electrical rooms and corrects physical plant, building and life safety deficiencies Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Trade or vocational school graduate required
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license required
  • 5 years of electrical maintenance related experience required
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
  • Ability to communicate with employees, patients, visitors, vendors, construction contractors
  • Ability to move throughout the Medical Center
  • Visual acuity for reviewing written reports
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs for access to construction areas
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
  • Exposure to temperature extremes from boiler room to air-conditioned areas
  • Work in areas of high tool noise levels
  • Exposure to high-speed cutting tools, electrical wires, and equipment, sealing agents, adhesives, and demolition debris
  • Works near machinery and resultant dust of construction

  • Electrician's license preferred

Responsibilities
