About The Position

Under direction, installs, maintains, calibrates, troubleshoots, repairs and overhauls electrical components of equipment to keep electrically dependent equipment operational.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Five years Journeyman experience.
  • Experience with VFD’s and programmable controllers.
  • Has a good working knowledge of all tools, bender, threader, pullers, simple, electrical meters, etc.
  • Ability to read technical material, blueprints (understands symbols, can trace and understand control and power circuits, use print for troubleshooting).
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, safety devices and procedures.
  • Ability to do simple motor troubleshooting.
  • Communicates effectively via written and oral methods with coworkers, supervisors, managers, and others when necessary.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with co-workers.
  • If working in field, ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with public.
  • Ability to prepare accurate oral and written reports.
  • Ability to enter data.
  • Basic skills in computers and data input devices, email, application and office software.
  • Successful completion of a formal State indentured apprenticeship program. Preferably Maintenance.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and to wear breathing apparatus for confined entry.

Responsibilities

  • Required to follow all applicable safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in performance of assigned duties.
  • Is required to participate in all required safety training activities.
  • Is expected to report any unsafe conditions encountered in performance of duties.
  • Installs, maintains, calibrates, troubleshoots, repairs and overhauls electrical equipment.
  • Also includes installation of instrumentation for Instrument Technicians working with Instrument Technicians, if necessary.
  • Assists supervisor in implementing a preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Maintains repair and maintenance records.
  • Performs other duties of a similar level and nature as assigned.
