About The Position

The primary responsibility of the Electrician shall be to maintain all electrical systems of the college campus in safe, operable and reliable condition.

Requirements

  • A Self motivated employee who is a licensed in the electrical trade and knowledgeable in the electrical code.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and be on call several times a year.
  • Technical degree with three years related electrical experience.
  • Ability to obtain a Journeyman Electrical License for the State of MN within six weeks of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years trade or technical college degree in the electrical trade.
  • Current Journeyman Electrical license that is in good standing.
  • Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Support the mission and vision of Concordia College and demonstrate the competencies as defined for this position.
  • Installation, maintenance, repair or replacement of building transformers, panel boards, motor control centers, distribution panels, power and lighting circuits and their components, and proper labeling of all systems components and circuits
  • Installation, maintenance, repair or replacement of substation switchgear and fusing components, distribution wiring, junction boxes, break ells, building disconnects, and transformers
  • Installation, maintenance, repair or replacement of control panels, smoke and heat detectors, door holders, pull stations, horns and lights, and fan relays
  • Installation, maintenance, repair or replacement of light poles or fixtures, lamps, diffusers and globes, and photo or time controls
  • Installation, maintenance, repair or replacement of motor controls, safety and interlock controls, electric temperature controls (120v), lighting controls, and time switches
  • Installation, maintenance, repair or replacement of all electric motors, including those associated with AHU’s, pumps, fans, power drives, air conditioning and refrigeration units
  • Installation, maintenance, repair or replacement of laboratory equipment, instrumentation, appliance, commercial kitchen equipment, and miscellaneous other special use equipment
  • Inspect high voltage distribution system on an annual basis
  • Maintain transformers in a clean manner
  • Inspect panel boards, breaker panels and other components for loose connections or other potential problems
  • Keep all electrical components clean, dry and in safe, reliable working order
  • Maintain all tools in a safe and workable order
  • Follow approved safety practices of the trade
  • Protect other workers, employees, students, and visitors from potential hazards by clearly marking and protecting work sites
  • Comply with all requirement of the National Electrical Code
  • Other duties as assigned by Master Electrician
  • Maintain availability for call back to perform emergency or critical repairs.This “on call” schedule will require on call duty approximately once every six weeks.When “on call”, must be able to report to campus within 30 minutes of receiving the call
