About The Position

The Electrician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining electrical equipment and systems up to 600V, including motors, switchgear, and lighting. Ensures safe operation, code compliance, and accurate documentation of work performed. Day Shift Available: 9:00am - 5:00pm

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma.
  • Experience based on Career Tier Progression as listed below. Experience can be substituted for educational requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, diplomacy and objectivity.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be detail-oriented and able to strive in a multitask environment.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 71 - 80 pounds.
  • 0-1 years related experience (Level I).
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency + Tech Math I Course Completion (Level I).
  • 1-3 years related experience (Level II).
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency + 10 credit hours towards Associate's Degree in Electrical Technology, Engineering or related discipline (Level II).
  • 5-10 years related experience (Level III).
  • Highschool Diploma or Equivalency + 40 credit hours toward Associate's Degree in Electrical Technology, Engineering or related discipline OR equivalent vocational school certificate (Level III).
  • Journeyman Electrician's Certificate OR 3-5 years as a Level II Electrician (Level III).

Responsibilities

  • Effectively repairs, replaces and installs electrical outlets and devices @ 120V and under.
  • Assists with the repair and installation of various electrical equipment and fixtures @ 277V and under as directed.
  • Assists with the proper installation and operation of motors, drives, lights and other electrical equipment.
  • Demonstrates knowledge regarding the use of all types of equipment associated with the Electrical trade.
  • Consistently demonstrates concern for safe operation of power tools.
  • Files accurate daily log of routine duties and work order repair requests.
  • Effectively prioritizes duties to maximize the work day.
  • Accurately reads blueprints.
  • Assists in other areas within the Facilities Dept. when requested to do so.
  • Repairs all electric switch-gears, motors, light and other electrical equipment.
  • Effectively troubleshoots and repairs electrical equipment malfunctions.
  • Helps to ensure code compliance and safe operation.
  • Consistently ensures the proper installation and operation of motors, drives, lights and other electrical equipment.
  • Assists with the repair and installation of various electrical equipment and fixtures @ 600V and under as directed.
  • May function as a mentor for Level l Electrician.
