About The Position

The electrician performs corrective and preventive electrical activities and inspections of the facility's utility equipment and electrical systems: generators, electrical substations, power distribution systems (high voltage, low voltage), chillers, cooling towers, boilers, air compressors, water systems, vacuum systems, HVAC systems, etc. Assists the facilities team in maintenance and repair efforts, as well as independently performing defined tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Safe Work practices, especially concerning energized work, work at heights, and confined spaces.
  • Ability to recognize, evaluate, and mitigate or eliminate risk.
  • Ability to understand and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment for associated tasks.
  • Perform and assist in identifying and implementing strategies to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient electrical equipment and devices.
  • Provide technical assistance, training, and support in advanced electrical maintenance, repair, installation, troubleshooting, and practical repair guidance in support of site teams.
  • Perform other work including practical repair and maintenance work in mechanics, electrical, plumbing, building automation systems, card access systems, door and gate systems, building envelope systems, grounds and parking areas, interior finishing systems, lighting systems, and various other tasks associated with the operation of a commercial property.
  • Perform preventive inspections and rounds of systems and equipment, and ensure work orders are met in accordance with applicable procedure.
  • Instruct electrician helpers on the electrical portion of utilities such as: air conditioning, chillers, cooling towers, water pumps, boilers, industrial air compressors, and vacuum pumps, high voltage electrical system, generator set.
  • Possess practical skills and knowledge to complete necessary electrical repairs and maintenance of the facility (including, but not limited to: HVAC, lighting, emergency power, transfer switches, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) generators, vertical transport, life safety, and building automation systems) using industry-standard tools and in accordance with all codes and laws.
