Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent GED.
Requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
Familiarity with basic mathematical functions is required.
Ability to work a schedule of 8 days on and 6 days off.
Good working knowledge of hand and power tools.
Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
Mature judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to pass a pre-hire background and drug screen.
U.S. Citizenship.
Ability to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance.
Valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
Ability to lift 50 pounds and team lift 75 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Trade certifications in mechanical, electrical, plumbing and/or carpentry.
Competency in Excel, Word and Outlook.

Responsibilities

Examines machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble.
Dismantles or partly dismantles machines and performs repairs that mainly involve the use of hand tools in scraping and fitting parts.
Replaces broken or defective parts with items obtained from stock.
Orders the production of a replacement part by a machine shop or sending the machine to a machine shop for major repairs.
Prepares written specifications for major repairs or for the production of parts ordered from machine shops.
Reassembles machines and makes all necessary adjustments for operation.
Performs Electrician duties to include, but not limited to, the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy.
Installs or repairs a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems or other transmission equipment.
Works from blueprints, drawings, layouts or other specifications.
Locates and diagnoses trouble in the electrical system or equipment.
Performs standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
Uses a variety of electrician's hand tools, and measuring and testing instruments.
Uses a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
Responds to emergency site maintenance as required.
Inspects and diagnoses problems to determine corrective repairs.
Performs on call and preventive maintenance duties as necessary.
Supports and assists other department staff and trade groups as needed or directed.
Adheres to the established Chugach safety, personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
Ability to work overtime as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
