About The Position

Saronic Technologies is a leader in revolutionizing autonomy at sea, dedicated to developing state-of-the-art solutions that enhance maritime operations through autonomous and intelligent platforms. This role ensures the proper operation of electrical systems by using tools, gauges, meters, and testing equipment. The Electrician will read and interpret blueprints, schematics, one-lines, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer documentation to understand project specifications, plan layouts, and integrate engine electrical, control, and communication systems. The position also involves understanding and installing marine electronics, performing quality control on electrical schematics, and communicating issues to supervisors. A basic understanding of wire and circuit protection sizing is required. The role may involve working aloft, in confined spaces, and requires on-site training.

Requirements

  • Strong electrical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Possesses a thorough understanding of AC or DC circuit operation and theory
  • Understands the function and install of marine electronics such as AIS, Radar, transponders, and transducers
  • Basic understanding of proper wire and circuit protection sizing
  • Will be required to work aloft (on scaffold or on manlifts) and in confined spaces
  • Properly connects isolation transformers
  • Terminate cable connections
  • Understands network communication
  • Connect Single Phase and Three Phase Motors
  • Connect Single and Three Phase Transformers
  • Can work with all voltages in AC Power Distribution up to 1000Volts
  • Knows how to connect Generators, check phase rotation of Generator, and parallel Generators
  • Knows how to change rotation on a three-phase motor
  • Knows proper sizes of Motor Starters (NEMA Ratings)
  • Install, terminate, and test high voltage cables, conductors, breakers, and transformers
  • Execute grounding and bonding practices for high voltage installations
  • Work around live equipment while adhering to lockout/tagout and arc flash safety protocols
  • Follow all shipyard safety policies, including proper use of PPE, fire prevention, and confined space protocols
  • Must be a "U.S. Person" as defined by U.S. law (U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident, or certain protected classes of asylees and refugees).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper operation of electrical systems by using tools, gauges, meters, and testing equipment
  • Read, interpret, and follow blueprints and sketches to understand the specifications of a project
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, one-lines, wiring diagrams, and blueprints
  • Figure material take-offs on drawings for required cut lengths
  • Plan electrical system layout, installation, or repair per specifications
  • Possess a thorough understanding of AC or DC circuit operation and theory
  • Read manufacturer documentation to determine how to install and integrate engine electrical, control, and communication systems
  • Understand the function and install of marine electronics such as AIS, Radar, transponders, and transducers
  • QC electrical schematics and effectively communicate issues to supervisor
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment on vessels
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and multimeters
  • Test circuits for voltage, continuity, and amp draw
  • Properly connect isolation transformers
  • Terminate cable connections
  • Understand network communication
  • Pull/install wires and cables
  • Connect Single Phase and Three Phase Motors
  • Connect Single and Three Phase Transformers
  • Work with all voltages in AC Power Distribution up to 1000Volts
  • Connect Generators, check phase rotation of Generator, and parallel Generators
  • Change rotation on a three-phase motor
  • Determine proper sizes of Motor Starters (NEMA Ratings)
  • Install, terminate, and test high voltage cables, conductors, breakers, and transformers
  • Execute grounding and bonding practices for high voltage installations
  • Work around live equipment while adhering to lockout/tagout and arc flash safety protocols
  • Give instructions to fitters to install cableways and other support outfitting
  • Inspect all equipment daily
  • Fit, build, and install cable penetrations
  • Fit, build, and install cable raceways
  • Follow all shipyard safety policies, including proper use of PPE, fire prevention, and confined space protocols
  • Assist in the training and development of junior electricians
  • Collaborate and communicate with welders, metal fitters, pipefitters, electricians, and other trades as required to complete vessel construction or repair and to maintain efficient work flows
  • Work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced ship production environment
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Maintain a positive attitude toward customers and represent Saronic professionally
