About The Position

This position will take on the responsibilities of a full range of Substation construction and maintenance work on electrical distribution and transmission substations. This position works inside energized and de-energized substations. This position requires a Class A CDL license with HAZMAT endorsement within 6 months of hiring. Planned and unplanned overtime work will be required. The majority of the work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions and is considered "heavy labor" which is not limited to but includes the following: Climbing steel structures and working off ladders and aerial lifts. Working with lift tools and material up to 75 pounds on the ground and aloft. Due to weight limits on equipment, weight restriction not to exceed 290 pounds. Various duties include: Climb steel structures and work off ladders and aerial lifts. NERC requirements. Drive and/or operate vehicles for long distances. Operate heavy equipment to construct and maintain distribution and transmission substations. Working with mineral oils, paints, compressed gases i.e.. air, nitrogen, SF-6 etc. battery acids, PCB’s, solvents, explosives, pumps, etc. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a Class A CDL learner's permit within 1 month of employment and a CDL with Dominion training within 6 months of employment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be able to obtain a Class A CDL learner's permit within 1 month of employment.
  • Must obtain a CDL with Dominion training within 6 months of employment.
  • Weight restriction not to exceed 290 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Class A CDL with HAZMAT endorsement or CDL learner's permit.
  • Previous electric and/or utility experience is a plus.
  • Experience with forklift operations, aerial lifts, power driven equipment, painting, cutting equipment, pneumatic equipment and hydraulic equipment.
