About The Position

Helix Electric, a leading electrical contracting company founded in 1985, is seeking an Electrical Trainee with a minimum of 5 years of experience and a valid ET Card. This role supports complex projects by assisting with the assembly, installation, maintenance, and testing of electrical equipment and wiring systems in commercial and residential settings. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience
  • Valid ET Card REQUIRED
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Building Codes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work 8-10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, overtime, and night shifts as required.
  • Able to perform the essential functions of the job, including crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, able to routinely lift heavy objects in excess of 50 pounds and pushing and pulling of objects is required.
  • Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, and gloves always), respirator when required.
  • Employee's personal weight and personal tools cannot exceed weight limit of ladder (Class 1-250 lbs., Class 1A-300 lbs.).

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in type NM (Romex) and/or MC wiring methods is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with assembly, installation, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment and wiring systems in commercial and residential settings.
  • Prepare work area for installation of equipment.
  • Install or assist with installation of electrical components.
  • Connect wiring and equipment as per code and job specification.
  • Operate equipment only if trained and certified to operate (e.g., powder-activated tools, JLG lifts).
  • Set up and operate tools such as hydraulic benders, power threaders, power pullers and cable vacuum systems.
  • Read blueprints and electrical drawings and install as specified.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments and clearances per drawings or plans.
  • Secure and lock up equipment after use.
  • Deliver safe projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Assist with complex electrical installations in a fast-paced and fast-production environment.
  • Work from all type ladders (step ladders up to 14', "A" frame ladders and all size extension ladders and carry and relocate up to 12' step ladder by oneself).
