About The Position

This position involves installing, maintaining, and replacing electrical and low voltage systems in multiple buildings. The role requires a strong understanding of commercial and industrial electricity, low voltage systems (CAT5/CAT6 cabling, door access, security cameras, alarm systems), blueprints, wiring schematics, single and three-phase power systems, and HVAC control systems. The technician will also be responsible for installing conduit, utilizing a work order system, and performing other duties as assigned. Employment is for 52 weeks, with wages, hours, and terms in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Requirements

  • Background and experience in commercial and industrial electricity and maintenance
  • Background and experience in low voltage systems such as, CAT5/CAT6 cabling, door access systems, security cameras, burglar and fire alarm systems.
  • Ability to understand and read blueprints, wiring schematics of buildings and control systems to troubleshoot such systems.
  • Working knowledge of single and three phase power systems including 120/240/480 volts.
  • Understand and troubleshoot digital HVAC control systems
  • Understand and install conduit
  • Able to work independently or as a team when necessary
  • Possesses excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of and execute proper safety precautions and practices
  • Professional dress is required.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and replace single and three-phase electrical components, wiring, or systems
  • Install, maintain, and replace lighting systems, bulbs, ballasts and other lighting components
  • Install, maintain, and replace low voltage components, wiring, or systems, including, but not limited to door access systems, security camera systems, communication systems (phone and network), burglar and fire alarm systems, etc.
  • Assist with and maintain HVAC control systems
  • All other duties assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds or his/her designee, which may include tasks outside of usual electrical work.
  • Utilize work order system for tracking tasks and logging time.
