About The Position

We are currently seeking an Electrician for the Plant to join our maintenance team at our North Antelope Rochelle Mine (NARM). NARM is the world's largest surface coal mine and is located in Wright, Wyoming. The mine produces high quality thermal coal that is loaded onto haul trucks and then shipped by rail. It has approximately 465 million tons of coal reserves. As part of Campbell County, Wright is a safe, tight-knit community with outstanding schools, and various recreational opportunities. The Plant Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment within the coal processing plant. This role ensures maximum equipment uptime, safe operation, and compliance with MSHA regulations, company policies, and electrical codes.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of: AC/DC systems, Motor controls and PLC basics, Electrical distribution systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and ladder diagrams.
  • Experience with: PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), High-voltage systems (up to 13.8kV or site-specific).
  • Proficient with electrical testing equipment: Multimeters, meggers, clamp meters.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • MSHA Surface Certification Part - 46 or 48 (If candidate does not have MSHA Electrical card employee will be required to obtain within two years of employment.)
  • High School Degree or GED Equivalent required.

Responsibilities

  • Visibly support and champion Peabody's Mission and Values.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical issues on plant equipment including: Conveyors, crushers, screens, pumps, and prep plant systems.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on: Motors, VFDs, MCCs, switchgear, transformers, and control circuits.
  • Use schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to isolate faults.
  • Minimize downtime through efficient troubleshooting and repair.
  • Install and commission electrical systems and components.
  • Assist in plant upgrades, retrofits, and capital projects.
  • Ensure proper grounding, bonding, and cable management practices.
  • Verify system functionality through testing and calibration.
